Sometimes We Really Need to Keep on Going
64Most people who are aspiring for success felt discouraged if they realized that the hard work that they exert produces no result. They feel like quitting when they think that there is no more hope and no other way to succeed. Many people never realized that it only takes to keep on going and going for someone in order to achieve victory.
The Light of the Current
“Genius is one percent inspiration and ninety-nine percent perspiration,” is one of the most popular quoted lines. This line is the statement Thomas Alva Edison. He was the person who changed the lives of millions of people. He was perhaps the greatest inventor in history with over 1,000 patents issued to his name. This incredible American inventor had invented the electric light and phonograph when he was actually had only three months of formal schooling.
Edison knew more failures than successes. He kept on searching for 13 months for a filament that would stand the stress of electric current and tried about 700 experiments, but nothing has worked out. However, Edison refused to admit defeat and continue working and discovering. Finally, he reached to the point that he managed to insert one of the crude carbonized threads into a vacuum-sealed bulb. That was the start of the glow in the dark.
Elected on the Highest Position
Edison was just one of the world's popular in failures. There was another American guy also who failed in business in 1831. He ran for government office but emerged a loser in 1832. He again failed in business in 1833. Though he was elected to the Legislature in 1834, he was then again defeated for speaker in 1838 and defeated again for Elector in 1840. He ran for congress but still defeated in 1843. When he tried again, he was elected for congress in 1846. In 1855, he was defeated for senate and defeated again for Vice President in 1856. He tried again to run for senate but in his second try to achieve that particular position still emerged as a failure. However, despite of those lots of defeats and failures, he was never get discouraged. He ran as President in United States and become elected in 1860. This person of strong courage is no other than Abraham Lincoln.

A Taste of Milk Chocolate
Another person who is also familiar with failures was Milton Hershey. At the early age of 19, he already started his own confectionery business which was being established in Philadelphia, USA. But after six years of working so hard, the business did not succeed. He almost had to give up, but he got a spirit to start again. He moved on to Denver to start for another confectionery company but it was still a failure.
Few years later, Milton and his father started another candy company in Chicago which also failed. They went to New Orleans where another investment did not work out. New York was their next destination to put up business, but sad to say that their new venture there failed again. With so many failures, he remained strong and standing straight.
“After all, I learned so many things from my mistakes. Failure is not fatal,” he told himself.
Milton kept on learning about confectionary trade. He picked up many tricks and he invented new ones by constantly experimenting with new formulas and processes. After discovering new ideas, he opened again a company called the Lancaster Carmel Company in Pennsylvania during the Christmas Trade. Then, it was a success! Milton Snavely Hershey becomes very popular throughout the world. He is the man who created the much known Hershey’s Milk Chocolate.
Persistence and Determination
Persistence and determination, these are the words that Thomas Edison, Abraham Lincoln, and Milton Snavely Hershey possessed. Their dreams have come true because they are stuck to their ambitions. They refused to be discouraged and they never let disappointments get in the upper hand.
